About Beyond the Horizon
About Us

We built this company for organizations like yours.

Fourteen years ago, we made a bet that nonprofits deserved better from their technology partners — not bigger, not flashier, but better. That bet has shaped everything we’ve done since.

Our Story

It started with a simple idea.

In May 2012, our co-founders started a company. There wasn’t a complicated business plan. Just a conviction that nonprofits deserved better from their technology partners, and the experience to back it up.

The plan was straightforward: find a couple of clients and help them achieve their goals. The early work was strategic planning, technology roadmaps, vendor selection. It didn’t take long to realize they could do the implementation work, too.

What they didn’t plan for was what happened next. Each engagement led to a referral. Each referral led to another. Not because of a particular marketing or sales strategy — because of how BTH showed up. They listened before they prescribed. They got curious about the parts of the operation no one was talking about — the inconspicuous things obstructing progress, not just the technical requirements on a statement of work. They worked the same way with front-line staff as they did with executives. And they didn’t disappear when the project wrapped.

That approach built something that’s hard to manufacture: trust. Over fourteen years, clients have invited BTH into internal staff meetings, included the team in organizational milestones, and asked consultants to join their boards after engagements ended. Those aren’t vendor relationships. They’re partnerships — the kind that only form when people feel understood.

Over the years, the work has diversified and grown. It’s more interesting than ever. But the way the work happens, the approach to it all — that hasn’t changed. Show up. Listen. Build what actually helps. Focus on relationships at every step.

How We Work

We show up differently.

Every organization we work with is somewhere different. Some know exactly what they need. Many don’t, and that’s fine.

We meet you where you are. We move at a pace your team can absorb. We explain things in language that makes sense to you. And we don’t disappear when the project ends.

That last part matters more than people think. Technology evolves. Your mission evolves. The organizations that get the most from their investment are the ones whose partner is still there when the next question comes up — not the ones who have to start over with someone new every two years.

We’ve been doing this long enough to know what works: listen first, stay honest about what’s realistic, build what actually helps, and stick around.
